Support Gender Equality
To go to school, girls in many communities must overcome cultural bias, discrimination, poverty and violence. Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program has supported over 3.7 million girls, advancing gender equality in historically low-income communities around the globe.
Your donation can provide girls in our program with:
- Classes on life skills such as leadership, resilience and critical thinking
- Individualized support and guidance from a local woman mentor
- Family and community engagement to raise awareness and build support for girls' education
- Material support for needs such as tuition, books and supplies, uniforms, and safe transportation to school
About Room to Read
Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, Room to Read helps children in historically low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and supports girls as they build life skills to succeed in school and negotiate key life decisions. We collaborate with local communities, partner organizations and governments to test and implement innovative models that can be integrated into education systems to deliver positive outcomes for children at scale. To date, Room to Read has benefited more than 39 million children across 24 countries and in more than 192,000 communities and aims to reach 40 million children by 2025. Join us.
